About DKI


Downtown Kannapolis Inc. provides community-based leadership in achieving the vision for downtown Kannapolis in partnership with local government, businesses, and property owners. We are a sustainable organization working for the citizens of Kannapolis. Formed in 2011, DKI strives for a thriving downtown through marketing and promotion, coordination of events and programs and support of investments in the physical environment. We want everyone to “Experience Downtown Kannapolis.”


Downtown Kannapolis captures the heart of our community with its aesthetic charm and history. It is the epicenter for health & nutrition activity in the region and serves as a gathering place for social, cultural, civic and business activities, incorporating a thriving mix of uses.

DKI meets the 3rd Thursday of each month at 6:30pm at Rotary Hall (211 West Ave). Visitors are welcome, but please email to let us know if you are coming in case the schedule or venue changes.

Events & Promotions Committee – To put on quality events in downtown for the benefit of the community and to promote a positive image of downtown Kannapolis.

Community Involvement Committee – To build support for DKI through engagement of new and existing members.

Kannapolis Arts Committee – To put on cultural arts events in downtown for the benefit of the community.
